Although Yahoo has had a lot of negative attention lately (compared to that of rivals Google and Bing), it still
hold strong as the second most popular search engine in the united states. A recent update the Yahoo's homepage design may help increase its popularity by taking marketshare away from Google or Bing. Today Yahoo plans to relaunch its homepage that allows for a customized user experience. Similar to Google's personalized homepage, Yahoo will allow users to incorporate their social applications (like Twitter and Facebook) as well as other points of interest (like Ebay) into the search page on Yahoo. Right now Yahoo holds around 19.5% of searches across the US, with Google holding about 65% of users. There are rumors that Yahoo is in talks with Microsoft to structure a deal, its unknown how this relaunch will effect any possible deal moving forward. One thing is for sure, all eyes will be on Yahoo's numbers to see if this chage has increased thier popularity with search engine users.
